We’re now award winning!

What makes it all worth while – Humans.
Most days at work are busy. Most days are interesting but some days, like today are just plain exciting and remind us of why we started Human+Kind in the first place. In the space of half an hour this afternoon we had two pieces of equally important news for our company.

Firstly we got an email saying we won the Irish Tatler Beauty Awards 2012/2013 in the multi-tasking section. The news came through while we were in a brainstorming meeting and everything stopped while the team including company founders Jeroen and Rene exploded into a round of hugging and kissing. After a while things settled and we continued on with our brainstorm – though murmurs of an after-work celebration abounded.

Then another equally important piece of news came through on Facebook. Hazel from Hazel’s Health Store in Cavan posted that her customers really liked Human+Kind and that she’s using our All-in-One Anti-Ageing and finds it great. Now admittedly one piece of news is a bit more glamorous, Jeroen and Rene were genuinely thrilled that a real ‘Human’ loved our brand and took the time and effort to tell us on Facebook. They took as much joy from the Facebook post as from the award.

It reminded me why Human+Kind really is a different kind of skincare from a different kind of company. To take as much pleasure from a success with a single customer to a major beauty award win shows a level of sincerity that’s all too often lacking in today’s commercial reality.

So to all the Humans that have bought Human+Kind we say a sincere thank you for getting this Irish brand off to a flying start.

Independent reviews

It seems like almost a daily occurrence now, but we’ve just received yet another amazing review from an independent blogger - this time in UAE. Makeupandbeauty.com We truly believe that our all-natural skincare is amazing - but it’s always gratifying when real women try our skincare and love it too! Why not share this blog with some of your friends online and help us spread the word about Human+Kind, an Irish skincare brand?

Extract from blog by Makeupandbeauty.com What’s to LOVE about the Human + Kind Family Remedy Cream :
• Packaging. I like anything which comes with a flip flop cap. I mean it ensures that it is travel friendly and it won’t really mess up in my hand bag.
• The texture is waxy like shea butter, but it melts into the skin gorgeously on application.
• It absorbs into the skin giving an oil free finish to the skin.
• It is a natural brand, thus holds no side effects.
• Suits all skin types.
• It’s a multipurpose cream.
• I use it as a hand cream and foot cream. Also on the elbows and knees. My brother uses it for his bruises and basic rashes! My father uses it for dry hands and also as a moisturizer after shaving. My mother prefers to use it for her heels and also as a quick moisturizer after shower for her hands.
• I also used it after waxing my arms the other day and I expected it to give me a little cooling and itchy sensation, but fortunately it didn’t!
• Here are some more things to love about the Human + Kind Family Remedy Cream,
• The ingredient list of the product speaks for itself in terms of goodness and harmlessness of the product. I mean marshmallows, white lily, aloe vera and all the goodness. Check details HERE
• Has a very natural eucalyptus-y minty scent. Not over whelming though.
• They have worldwide shipping so it won’t be a problem availing it.
What’s to HATE about the Human + Kind Family Remedy Cream :
I do not have any con for the product, since it doesn’t leave a room for having a disappointment with it!
Final Verdict :
If you are looking for an all in one cream, or you are looking for substituting your hand bag creams with one tube the Human + Kind Family Remedy Cream is a nice option. It won’t let you down in any aspect. I haven’t used it on my face , so I cannot comment on how it would react with the facial skin. I am assuming it to be 100% harmless there too, since it’s natural!

Formula for looking and feeling younger: Advice from Human+Kind community on anti-ageing.

The American Poet, Samuel Ullman wrote that “Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind.” While some of us think of ourselves as youthful, many more of us many not be feeling or looking quite so young. Rather than giving only our advice on looking and feeling younger, we asked the Human+Kind community for their tips and here’s their advice.

Marti Kelly on Facebook says; “Sleep.”
Most of us like Marti know that sleep is important but did you know why? About one hour into a deep sleep your body begins to secrete a human growth hormone (HGH). This hormone is responsible for helping to improve the elasticity of your skin. Simple equation really; More good quality sleep = More skin elasticity.

Crystal Wright on Twitter says; “Think about and have good things to say about others. Renew your mind and watch the lines disappear from your face”.
We think Crystal encapsulates the power of positive thinking which according to recent research by German scientists is significant. Dr. Stefanie Brassen and her team discovered that having an optimistic attitude will make your appearance will look younger and brighter.

Carina Maat on Twitter says; Smile every day! :)
In the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin scientists recently proved that smiling makes you look younger . So we say take Carina’s advice smile a bit more today. See what happens! A Japanese proverb says; If you smile you can change yourself, others and your future. And remember, it’s easier to smile than to frown - it takes 43 facial muscles to create a frown, and only 17 to generate a smile!

Tanja Buwalda, Head of Human Interaction at Human+Kind says; “Try to do some regular exercise”
Instinctively we all know that exercise is good for our bodies, but specifically exercise can slow down the aging process. A study, published in the prestigious journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), found that endurance exercise can slow down the aging process . It’s not always easy to motivate ourselves to do regular exercise so how about trying out some new exercise crazes like Bootcamps, Zumba and TRX. Changing your exercise routine regularly prevents you from getting bored and uses different muscles in your body so they don’t get complacent.

The conclusion on looking younger from our Human+Kind community goes something like this:

Sleep + Positivity + Smiling + Exercise + Human+Kind = A younger looking you!

If you want to help your skin fight the ageing process even more you could use Human+Kind’s Anti-Ageing Cream. Scientifically formulated with nine natural active ingredients, each chosen for its efficacy at fighting the signs of ageing.

Who was St. Valentine?

As February the 14th is just around the corner, the team at Human+Kind began to wonder who this St. Valentine dude was? And why do we make a special effort to celebrate love on this day of the year?

Let me introduce myself. My name is Valentine. I lived in Rome during the third century. That was long, long ago! At that time, Rome was ruled by an emperor named Claudius. I didn’t like Emperor Claudius, and I wasn’t the only one! A lot of people shared my feelings. Claudius wanted to have a big army. He expected men to volunteer to join. Many men just did not want to fight in wars. They did not want to leave their wives and families. As you might have guessed, not many men signed up. This made Claudius furious. So what happened? He had a crazy idea. He thought that if men were not married, they would not mind joining the army. So Claudius decided not to allow any more marriages. Young people thought his new law was cruel. I thought it was preposterous! I certainly wasn’t going to support that law!

Did I mention that I was a priest? One of my favourite activities was to marry couples. Even after Emperor Claudius passed his law, I kept on performing marriage ceremonies — secretly, of course. It was really quite exciting. Imagine a small candlelit room with only the bride and groom and myself. We would whisper the words of the ceremony, listening all the while for the steps of soldiers.

One night, we did hear footsteps. It was scary! Thank goodness the couple I was marrying escaped in time. I was caught. (Not quite as light on my feet as I used to be, I guess.) I was thrown in jail and told that my punishment was death.
I tried to stay cheerful. And do you know what? Wonderful things happened. Many young people came to the jail to visit me. They threw flowers and notes up to my window. They wanted me to know that they, too, believed in love.
One of these young people was the daughter of the prison guard. Her father allowed her to visit me in the cell. Sometimes we would sit and talk for hours. She helped me to keep my spirits up. She agreed that I did the right thing by ignoring the Emperor and going ahead with the secret marriages. On the day I was to die, I left my friend a little note thanking her for her friendship and loyalty. I signed it, “Love from your Valentine.”

I believe that note started the custom of exchanging love messages on Valentine’s Day. It was written on the day I died, February 14, 269 A.D. Now, every year on this day, people remember. But most importantly, they think about love and friendship. And when they think of Emperor Claudius, they remember how he tried to stand in the way of love, and they laugh — because they know that love can’t be beaten!

Passion recognised

We’re passionate about what we do. We’re driven by the belief that nature holds the secret to effective natural skincare. Our passion combined with extensive research has enabled us to develop Human+Kind; Multi-tasking, all natural skincare that works. Simple as that. And so it’s always rewarding when our passion is recognised. Recently some Irish bloggers have been writing about us – here is what they said:

Say hello to Human+Kind, an Irish naturals-based beauty company who’ve oh-so-smartly invested in amazeballs packaging for their two-strong chemical-free product range because yes, hands up, we do judge books by their covers.

And if you’re going to send a hippy line to me for consideration then by Jaysis, making it not look like something Peig Sayers would use on a windy Blasket island in the 1800′s as she sucked on her clay pipe while rubbing her chin beard is a really really good start.

And oh boy, this stuff is prrrreeetty. Kinda Rob Ryan meets super spirograph-style bank notes. I like.

But… I must admit whilst I love the idea of all things natural and also Irish, living in the ‘real’ world as I and most of us do I have to be honest and say that I am extremely results driven when it comes to my skincare. I grilled them (Rene & Jeroen, founders of Human+Kind) upon the true effectiveness of their soon to be released cleanser’s power to dissolve the thick mascara I love lacquering on a Saturday night. They assured me this had been considered and that the range wasn’t just for the ‘dash of lipgloss and I am good to go types’.

Human+Kind is fuelled by a mission to challenge the beauty industry’s conditioning that we need several products to take care of our skin. Instead the Irish beauty brand addresses one of the biggest frustrations amongst women today – a lack of time to invest in lengthy beauty rituals. Instead, they offer a simple approach to skincare with a capsule collection of multi-functional products.

They’re human, they’re kind, they’re Human+Kind! I have had the pleasure of trying out this new skincare, the brain child of two Dutch, but honorary Irishmen. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some of this because firstly it’s 100% natural/organic/traceable/free from chemicals, parabens, any known nastiness and also, it’s Irish! I’m not going to get into the whole recession rant but it is wonderful to see a product born and bred here.

“Worldwide, the majority of skincare products contain potentially harmful chemicals that have not been assessed or screened for safety” Rene van Willigen, Human+Kind Co-Founder

The idea for Human+Kind started when we realised that it was very difficult to buy natural skincare products that did not contain harmful chemicals.

When we started to look more carefully we were amazed at the number of products that we were using on a daily basis contained dangerous carcinogenic parabens and toxins that can lead to cancer and cause various other health problems.

So with this as our starting point we began to figure out how we could create an authentic new skincare range that was totally natural and contained active ingredients that could reviltalise and restore a variety of skin problems.
