Since our founding in 2011, Human+Kind has built a reputation of offering people around the world skincare care sourced from sustainable ingredients. Beginning with a humble idea our founders began to work on a revolutionary goal to create Human+Kind Skincare as a business that could be a force for good. Over time their powerful idea has become our guiding manifesto –enrich our people, enrich our products and enrich our planet. Fast forward to 2019 and Human+Kind remains committed to ethically sourcing natural ingredients. Our products continue to enrich and uplift communities, and are never tested on animals. We’re also committed to growing our vegan makeup and skincare range.

Vegan Skincare doesn’t contain any animal ingredients or ingredients derived from animals. Often used interchangeably with the term “cruelty free” (i.e. no animal testing), here are a few key benefits you’ll enjoy by switching to vegan cosmetics:

1. Vegan Skincare is Good for Animals

Firstly, vegan skincare is good for animals. Very good in fact, with the definition of vegan being something “containing no animal products”. By extension vegan also means “cruelty-free”. In other words, no animals were harmed or tested in creating your make up brushes, mascara or foundation. This gives you a clear conscience knowing your choices as a consumer are contributing towards a kinder, safer world for our furry friends.

2. Vegan Skincare is Good for the Planet

Good for animals can only mean good for the planet too right? This is the case with skincare which is free from many hidden nasties and animal by-products found in regular cosmetics. Common by-products include: Uric acid -sourced from cows, Beeswax, Dead insect extracts, Butylated hydroxytoluene -a cause of skin and eye irritation and Formaldehyde -a chemical linked to asthma and immune deficiencies. Going vegan also means avoiding many of the pesticides animals are exposed to from farming. These can make their way into the atmosphere as pollutants.

3. Vegan Skincare is Good for Your Skin

This lack of hidden nasties in vegan skincare products also makes it kinder on your skin, our largest and most fragile organ.Put simply, vegan cosmetics contain a lot less ingredients than regular items you see on the beauty shelves. This makes them ideal for those with sensitive skin. A perfect example of this is make up brushes whose bristles derive from exotic sources like horse, pony, goat and mink fur. Anyone with an allergy to animal fur can tell you straight away that it’s not only uncomfortable, but not a good look either! Thankfully synthetic make up brushes have come a long way. Most are unable to tell the difference between the real thing and the vegan version. They also tend to have sustainably sourced wooden handles for good measure!

4. Vegan Skincare is Good for Your Health

“Beauty is health” or so the old saying goes. The truth is vegan makeup and skincare is not only better for animals, Mother Nature, and our skin, it’s also better for our health as well. Studies have found that the average woman puts up to 515 synthetic chemicals on her body every day without even knowing it. Those chemicals can seep deep into our pores disrupting our body’s natural balance, causing all sorts of health issues. Switching to vegan skincare and makeup means cutting down on the harsh artificial ingredients we’re exposed to daily. You can also look forward to improved health in the long run.
